Fun Funky Friday - Tassels & Tea

Updated: Aug 20, 2021

I don’t know how you spend your Fridays, but for me, most Fridays are Fun and indeed Funky.

My Fridays as of late, start with a cup of tea. I love loose tea that I can measure out and use to infused “just below boiling” water. The aromatics that one gets from hibiscus flowers, dried berries, bergamot (you know which Earl thats about) do something too my senses that is hard to describe. Don’t get any ideas about me and coffee, I reeaaally dig coffee, but in this season, its all about tea and the Fun of mixing loose teas together creating unique blends cup after cup throughout the day.

No different for thoughts around bringing the Funk to hat embellishments. Tassels are my go to regardless of season or day of the week, but its Friday, I just made some, so Im going to wax on them while I sip a freshly made cup of tea.

I do loops, fringe and pom-poms. Less of the latter as I haven’t found a way to make it them work for my hats that suits me…yet. But hear me when I tell you, I LIVE for a good tassel. The more I make them, the more I love them. Wrapped around my hand, a book, a tassel maker thingy, they are everything!

My favorites are Big, Bold, Bodacious Tassels. Tassels made from Textured Yarn, Multi colored yarn, Two or more colors of Yarn mixed together. They can be 2”, 5” or longer, it’s what works for the hat and they always, always work. Full of moxy, sway and, sashay, their movement is unparalleled. I may be a little obsessed with them and should really make an effort to incorporate their decorative sisters on occasion, but that’s not what going down these days.

So here I sit, with my Tassels and my Tea, bringing the Funk to YarnGoneWild - Yarn Craft head gear swag!

Tassel on Y’all.
